Consultation and Postural Assessment

Whether you are requiring treatment for a specific injury or issue, or require basic sports massage to help facilitate your healthy state, a consultation is arguably the most important element.Your first appointment  will involve a thorough chat Anything from training history to work life balance, the consultation will give you and the therapist a clearer understanding of your body and background to provide the most effective treatment plan tailored for your needs.

Load Capacity

Issues develop from the demands of an action exceeding our ability to cope with those demands, at that moment. For example, banging your foot on the dining room table and fracturing a toe, means the forces upon impact far exceeded your toe’s capacity to tolerate that force at that moment. Throughout all of your treatments, this principle is applied and tailored to you and your needs with strategies in place to make you better prepared in the future

Posture and Movement

How important is posture? It’s the act of maintaining, achieving or restoring a state of balance during any activity. Our bodies adapt well to our daily demands. From time to time our demands exceed our capacity - the load outweighs the capacity to load. Sometimes our usual posture and movement can change because of this. We may be required to determine if this is contributing to your pain or complaints. Rather than assess posture and movements compared to how we look on posters, your assessment will come from your consultation. Have you deviated from YOUR normal posture control? Is this contributing to YOUR pain? How?

Joint Assessments

Through assessment of movement, stability, and strength at a joint or multiple joints, we can gauge the involvement any of this might have with your pain or dysfunction. We can work towards identifying the underlying issue to treat and promote repair, recovery, and adaptation.
